Status: Completion Spring 2017
Reconfiguration and extension to Grade II listed cottage.
This project seeks to re-evaluate the spatial configuration of an existing stone cottage that has suffered from years of detrimental additions. The design proposal clarifies the diagram of the house allowing a more logical natural flow of internal spaces whilst providing an added contemporary volume unifying the building forms. Thorough research and investigation into local Yorkshire stone resulted in a modern external envelope representing a crafted version of traditional dry-stone walls. Careful detailing merges the contemporary dry-stone cladding with the existing cottage fabric via interstitial frameless glazing.
The project achieved Listed Building consent in 2015 and is on target for completion in Spring 2017.
